Bring the outside in with flowers designed to last

How to decorate with dried faux flowers
Helen Stone,-Interiors Writer

Fresh blooms may be fleeting but ideas for dried flowers sprout daily on Instagram. Here’s how to use them to brighten up your home

‘Dried flowers are so on-trend – especially with younger customers,’ enthuses Bethan Harwood, Partner & Home Design Stylist. ‘Fresh flowers last a week but dried flowers will easily last a year and give a more permanent display.’

As we prepare to welcome friends and family back into our homes, it's easy to see the appeal, especially if you view them as an integral part of a decorating scheme. Bethan suggests using them to help build texture in a neutral scheme, but also to add pops of colour. ‘There are some great shades available. I’ve used dried flowers at home with purple accents to go with a purple feature wall,’ she adds. ‘A lot of the popularity of this trend is to do with collecting jugs and vases too, and what to put in them.’

And if you prefer a bit of greenery but don’t have the green fingers to match, faux plants and foliage offer a realistic alternative. Use them to soften the hard lines of a kitchen or bathroom where fluctuating temperatures can challenge even hardy plants. Bethan recommends popping rows of faux plants and succulents on shelving as fuss-free fillers. Just remember to dust them occasionally.
