VAT receipts & refunds

If you order something from us online, we will include the VAT receipt on your order confirmation email. 

If you were signed into your online account when you made the purchase, you can also view the VAT receipt online. 

Just go to:
My account > Online orders > Order details

The VAT receipt links will be visible at the top of the page. It can take up to 24 hours after an order has been placed for these links to be visible.

VAT refunds

We’re sorry that we can’t deduct VAT when charging for goods. However, if you work for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office; are a resident in the Channel Islands* and qualify for a VAT refund; or are entitled to a Medical VAT refund, then please email fcdo.vatrefunds@johnlewis.co.uk after your goods have been delivered and we can make the necessary arrangements.

*Jersey Goods & Services Tax

From 1 July 2023, customers based in Jersey and purchasing goods through our website will be subject to the Jersey Goods and Services Tax (GST), replacing UK VAT. UK VAT will no longer be reclaimable from this date and therefore, for now, we will be offering a 15% concessionary discount on your order (excluding applicable lines like food, books, and children's clothing and footwear). To claim this, please email fcdo.vatrefunds@johnlewis.co.uk once your goods have been delivered, and we will make the necessary arrangements.

Tax free shopping

In line with UK Government legislation changes, Tax Free Shopping is no longer available in the UK as of 1 January 2021.
