Excellent investment and really works.

I love letting it do its work whilst I do other things. All you have to do is empty its bin and occasionally change the little filters which is very easy. Common sense says don't leave wires or small items on the floor. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and it picks up the hairs very well and brushes up the carpets to look like new.

Believe the hype!

Had hesitated for a while due to price, but always suspected this was the product for me. How right I was.
We live in a flat so its territory is wide lateral space, all on one level, with just a small staircase up from the front door to the central landing. All our floors are either hardwood or stone tiled with nowhere for dust, grit or hair to hide, and our little robot patrols constantly ensuring they are kept clean. It starts where you tell it and moves through the entire space. You just have to leave your doors propped open - IMHO you don't even need the lighthouse thingys as it feels its way and moves wherever it's not blocked, but always stops at the top of the stairs.
And that's the joy: you just switch it on and leave it, whenver you feel the floors need doing, and Roomba takes care of everything. Literally, ALL the effort you need to put in is to take a small sweeping brush (and yes I've found a great one of those too, thanks John Lewis!) to the few corners Roomba can't get into and sweep the bits to where it can, and that's it. Done. As well if not better than you yourself would with a conventional vacuum.
Cleaning and emptying is similar in principle (no bag) but less messy than a bagless vacuum and you don't mind giving a moment's tlc to such an invaluable little household helper.
Overall, I'm astonished and thrilled by its effectiveness and helpfulness and like others here, wish I'd taken the plunge and forked out for one earlier.

Brilliant Product

Yes a little pricey but worth it. It does a great job. Leaves carpet nice and clean and also the tiles in the kitchen. The schedule function is really useful. Every morning it sets about for 1 hour and cleans thoroughly. You'll be amazed how much dust it collects each time. Having a young baby in the house we want to keep carpet clean and this little bad boy Roomba is great. Wife has her hands full most of the day with the baby so freeing up some time goes a long way. You will have to clear out the collection tray every 4-5 days depending on how often you use it. If used daily then tray needs emptying 4-5 days. Not a big problem. Takes less than a minute. Overall we are very happy with this product.

Delighted but not with IRobot Support

I have been delighted with this cleaner. So nice to leave it yto get on with the vacuuming while I get on with other things and to clean better than I did. Its gets under Chests of Drawers, sofas etc. However there is no instruction book just a DVD. I would prefer a booklet rather than logging in to my computer. I have just discovered what the box thing with the clear button on the top is, bought a set of batteries but have been unable to open it. Consulted the DVD but this shows a different model so ask IRobot for help. They ask for Serial Number, then having sent this (what on earth do they need with this for such a simple question). Now they want me to send photos of my Lighthouse and where did I buy it separately. I have managed with the help of a strong neighbour to get the top off without further help from IRobot. I do hope that I will not need any more assistance from them. For an item of this cost I would have the service would have been better

Expensive but worth it.

We have had the i-Robot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaner for a couple of months now so here is the review. We researched the product and read a number of reviews most seemed positive so after some discussion we decided to get one. We have three boys a dog and cat so the house gets a lot of traffic through it with muddy shoes paws etc. Roomba has surpassed expectations in both my wife and my opinion. We have programmed the cleaner to vacuum daily after everyone has left for work or school and come back to a floor that has been vacuumed. The Roomba then goes back to its docking station to recharge when it is finished. The fact that the machine needs the floor clear to do its job to its optimum means that we have now managed to train our boys to put their shoes, school bags and other junk away with the threat of they will have to use the old hoover if they do not. The only time the old hoover comes out is when we have to do the stairs once a week. Our flooring is mostly wooden downstairs with a couple of rugs which the Roomba has no problems getting on and off to clean. The kitchen and bathrooms are tiled and again it has no problems cleaning these areas. I was sceptical at first about the Roomba cleaning the landing carpet but as it has not thrown itself down the stairs with me supervising it I am confident leaving it to get on with its job. The Roomba seems to work in a haphazard fashion but gets the whole area clean so we are very pleased so much so we are thinking of getting the mopping one later in the year for the tiled areas. The only thing I am unsure about is the handle for the Roomba as it seems a bit flimsy however it has not broken so my doubts are probably unfounded. In short if this broke we would definitely get another. 

Hi Marina, Not noticed an increase in the electric used but I am sure there must be an increase as it charges itself back up everyday. However it runs everyday. If you do not want it to run that frequently you just change the program settings. Yes we to thought it an expensive purchase but we think it is worth it.

I am keen to purchase one of these items too. Is it really good value for money - seems a lot for such item.
And of course there is the additional cost of electricity. Have you noticed an increase in your electricity bill?

Hi Tuscanfry, Yes the irobot manouver around furniture no problem It cleans under furniture, beds and between table and chair legs no problem as long as there is enough height for it to fit under.

Just want to ask how good it is in going around furniture. Do you have to leave the entire floor bare? Does it manoeuvre well in between the dining table chairs etc.?

Very effective vacuum

'Robert' as our vacuum is called cleans well. We have a white tiled floor and a black Labrador so lots of black hairs. Robert does a first class job. You just leave him to get on with it and the floor is left spotless. He copes well with rugs and carpet as long as the rug tassels are not too long as they can get caught up. Our only criticism is that he can miss the odd bit but to be fair we haven't read the instructions!
Also good for bedrooms and cleaning under beds and cupboards.
Would definitely recommend.

So far soo good!

Got this today & was so excited to see it in action but the info said to charge it overnight for its first charge...... I couldn't wait that long so thought I'd have a sneaky quick go. I let it do its thing for only 15 mins & although it was quite disorganised in its chosen route, it was extremely effective & sucked up so much dust and cat hair in such a short space of time (& my floors were only cleaned 2 days ago!)
I can't wait to let it go properly tomorrow & see the results but I am very confident they will be great.
Only neg so far is that my cats were very wary but I think they will get used to it..... They'll have to!!
It is expensive but I am sure it will prove to be worth every penny.

Phenomenal, fantastic!... this Roomba is unbelievably good. My carpets look new, it picks everything up even hair that the dyson just rolled over and left behind. I've programmed it to hoover my flat everyday at 11am when I'm at work. I'm beyond excited with this purchase, it's worth every penny... totally recommend it.
