Expensive but worth it

Thus far I am very satisfied with the Bosch Styline Kettle. It is easy to fill, has temperature options and a keep warm feature. It is ergonomic and easy to pour. I usually go for what I consider the least expensive and best value options when making purchases but having had a couple of cheaper kettles become tatty and fail .decided to select the Bosch despite its extra cost. Thus far I am not disappointed with my choice

Best Kettle I have ever Owned!

Although expensive, it is stylish and worth the money. It has a choice of temperature settings, useful for making ground coffee/hot chocolate - when you want the water boiled to less than 100 degrees. Beeps when switched on and once boiled. Has a very good "keep warm" feature, active for up to 30 minutes before switching off. Boils as little as one cup, pours well, slightly heavy when full, but has a sturdy handle. Easy push button lid release. Suitable for right or left handed use.

Does what you expect, yes the alarm is noisy but it helps when you have forgotten you were making the tea.

Although the look and working of the kettle are good, it is noisier than expected and the lid keeps sticking shut.

bought this kettle around October last year (2013) loved the look of the kettle and was really pleased with the performance until just after the Christmas period I noticed the lid would sometimes not open with the first touch.I have gone back on John Lewis site just to see if anyone else has mentioned the problem. The second review I read said they had had the same problem. Is this a major design fault with this kettle?

The beep. Oh my god it's driving me mad. I want another kettle. Why oh why didn't they enable the beep function to be switched off! It kills what is otherwise a good product.

Looking for a replacement

We have had this kettle since July 2012 and I am looking for a replacement, which is proving difficult. We had 2 Siemens kettles before this one. They were expensive but more stylish than the Bosch but more substantial and quieter. I see the current models are sold elsewhere but have a European adapter so not really aimed at the British market.
The Bosch isn't broken and it isn't faulty. When I bought this kettle from John Lewis several reviews talked about the annoying beep, some said it was loud and some said it was useful. Believe me it is LOUD. In fact the combined noise of the beep on switch on, the general noise it makes when boiling (which in fairness is probably not louder than some others) followed by the additional beep when it has boiled is such that you are inclined to leave the room and shut the door! I understand the usefulness of the beep when it has boiled but not the beep when it is started, I think we know when we have turned something on! If Bosch changed the design so that a) it was a quieter beep b) it beeped only when boiled or even a switch somewhere to turn it off that would be a vast improvement.
As to the performance and build quality, it boils reasonably quickly, it is easy to fill, not particularly heavy and the build quality is ok The different temperature settings may be useful to some but the novelty does wear off. I understand that coffee needs to be made at 93 deg so the 90 setting doesn't get used. I don't use the 'keep warm' setting and not sure of the benefits of this.
How loud is it? well I think our neighbours know when we are boiling a kettle.
I am not sure what happened to my original review which was on here and written not long after purchase. In a way I am pleased it is no longer here as it I seem to remember giving it too much praise and the beeps hadn't started to get as annoying as clearly they are now.

Hello, it's Louise from John Lewis, thank you for your review, your feedback is really important to us. We are sorry you are disappointed with the Bosch kettle. The beep was designed to enhance the customer experience allowing you to move away from the kettle till it boils being recalled by the beep. We have passed your feedback onto the supplier who thank you for the feedback. If you require any further assistance please visit your local John Lewis shop or get in touch with our Customer Service team on 08456 049 049. Thank you

Purchased June 2012 with a 2 year guarantee.
Started to leak February 2014 so have been in touch with JL.
A nice kettle but it’s the guarantee that makes it a good buy.

Lucky you!.
I made a comment about the same problem earlier. I loved this kettle until it started leaking after roughly the same time. Sainsbury's and others offer only 1 year warranty. Even if I could find anyone interested in repairing the kettle it would not be worth the price.
Very unlike anything from Bosch I have had so far.

Product information
With its precise four temperature LED control for various drinks plus a glossy and stainless steel finish, the Bosch Styline kettle boasts both brains and beauty.
Different hot drinks, such as green tea and coffee, require different water temperatures for the best taste results. Fortunately, the Styline kettle enables you to heat the water to the specific temperature and will even maintain the setting if required.
The eco design saves up to 66% energy over a conventional kettle and there’s even an acoustic signal to let you know when your water is heated. Pouring is easy too, thanks to the ant-slip soft touch handle.
Boil dry and overheat protection, as well as the double wall cool-touch housing also provide extra peace of mind.
